What is a SEIT?

A SEIT is a teaching specialist who services students at school or provides in home support. A SEIT helps children who have behavioral, social/emotional, speech, language, or developmental issues integrate successfully into the classroom setting.

My Goals as Your Child's SEIT

My Goals as Your Child's SEIT

  • Provide instruction & activities to work towards goal achievement.
  • To foster positive peer interactions by teaching appropriate social skills.
  • To teach the necessary skills in order to be successful and independent learners.

Some Strategies Utilized

Why are social stories beneficial to early learners?

Social stories are used to teach particular social skills, such as identifying important cues in a given situation; taking another's point of view; understanding rules, routines, situations, upcoming events or abstract concepts; and understanding expectations.

Positive behavior supports/behavior management plans

Positive Behavior enables students to effectively engage in learning and sustain good relationships with both adults and peers.

  • Keeping hands to themselves
  • Sitting calmly in a group
  • Following rules and routines
  • Listening to instructions
  • Controlling impulsive behavior

Social skills training

  • Developing social skills in children prepares them for a lifetime of healthier interactions in all aspects of life. Displaying good manners, communicating effectively with others, being considerate of the feelings of others and expressing personal needs are all important components of solid social skills.
